Good or bad, embarrassing or not, I lost my karaoke virginity last Friday. After 3 complete months in Asia it was unthinkable to continue resisting. The karaoke rules Asian night life. However, as with most things around here, my idea of karaoke bar was completely and unquestionably wrong. Instead of featuring an embarassment in front of a wasted unknown audience, the karaoke experience is private and much more fun that I thought it would be. Fist of all, you could never, by no means guess that this black door, more similar to a storage room door, in the middle of a completely random building downtown, leads to an ultra-modern club. Yeah, you need to know somebody, who knows that it does. Two smiling hot chicks take to your private karaoke lounge, equipped with state-of-the-art sound system and large plasma screenс. The song-list is endless – and no! – there are not only Chinese, Korean or Taiwanese –but also a generous collection of nice and not-so English songs. I never figured out how we got served 5 pitchers of ice-cold beer. As the night progressed, we rocked the lounge! I sang my first (and probably the last) song ... The Monkees ”I am a believer”. Give it up for the enthusiasts! We’re doing it again next year!
Not sure what are we singing here, but I am afraid it was something lame....
