This film is seriously messed up.

Been floating round and about lately.

We are young, we are free...

keep out teeth nice and clean
see our friends, see the sights, feel alright.

And when most of Europe is warm and sunny and most of Asia awaiting a second wave of natural disasters, Edinburgh is dark, cold, rainy and snowy (?!?!?!). Nevermind the picture, it was taken on a beautiful day in mid-December. Today darkness reigns. But I still wanna be outside.

Never as wide awake as now, pumping blood on two green teas, two espressos and a chocolate brownie, even though I shut the eyelids at 2am and opened them wide again at 7 am. The sun's been shining bright over last-nights snow cover, the city rooftops are surrounding us in this 5th floor university library capsule. If the world would end right now I'd have the most splendid view - soft and hilly horizons embracing a dark yellowish citycape, a shy spire here, a watch tower there, the law faculty dome, naked impatient tree branches. And yet it's essay period, the last one in my 17 years of education.

p.s. a rather troubling thought:
Since plastics need more than a century to degrade it is very likely that every single bit of plastic ever produced still exists in one or another form in the environment.

of unfinished essays,
of unread books,
of imaginary relationships,
of real relationships,
of a floating life.

A perfect tune, day, mood. I want to frame and keep them.

In order to distract myself from the King of Limbs for a minute I got Efterklang's discography and here I sit in the university library getting high on legal drugs (caffeine, music, ginger-bearded humans). Now most people I play such music to become agitated after song two as they know that they'll be in for a long and winy musical diarrhea. But, hey, it's one of those gray days, when you oversleep, don't have time to finish your breakfast and for some obscure reasons a few seemingly unrelated parts of your body hurt as hell. Instead of asking myself why and being cross at the world , I garnish my day with winy Danish music to do the wining job for me. And suddenly everything seems to be fine.

I wanna thank Radiohead for coming up with another ingenuous album exactly when I needed some musical support a.k.a. sleepless-nights-while-writing-useless-essays soundtrack. I think i listened to it 6-7 times in a row, it seems too short, too good, I can't manage to distinguish one song from another, I can't swallow the disappointment after the final second of Separator is over, and then back to number one, until I have squeezed 2000 words out of those swollen fingers, and I realize the mission is possible. Yes, I can write one useless essay in one only day/night. We are capable of many many things, so why limit ourselves. Yes, I want the world to know I damn love this album, but they could have added a few more extra songs actually. I am high on caffeine right now and I have abused the green tea bags (which for good or bad in excessive amounts cause insomnia), my right ankle is pulsing, I can feel it, oh Thom Yorke's voice is so soothing.

The Illusionist

My city looks even more astonishing animated. Chomet's film didn't win the Academy award but we still loved it. It lacks something though, this plot, it seemed like the city of Edinburgh was the main character, the storyline, the drama. Edinburgh out-starred the magician and the girl, it shined and manifested its beauty in each scene. It was almost exciting watching other people (or animated characters) walk the streets I walk every day and enjoy the sights: Arthur's Seat, The Castle, Princess Street. And now the spring is almost here, there is madness and mischief in the air. The rabbits are out to play.
Having lived here, I don't think I want to ever live anywhere else.
